Janaka surfs and teaches vinyasa flow, pranayama, meditation and FNR (Flexibility Not Required) classes at Urban Ashram Yoga. He began his yoga training in 2001, and his years of experience has evolved him into a holistic movement practitioner and advocate.
His training is based on the universal philosophy and principles of yoga science and martial arts; fusing their essence. His inspirations and trainings draw from Paramhansa Yogananda Self-Realization (2005), Sivananda Yoga Vedanta School (2009), Yogaworks (2012), SmartFlow Yoga with Annie Carpenter (2012), Bandha Yoga Anatomy by Dr. Ray Long (2015), Jeet Kune Do by Bruce Lee, Qi Gong, Reiki (2013), and Landmark Neuro-Linguistic Programming (2011).
He has facilitated most of Urban Ashram Yoga’s signature YES (Yoga Exploration Series) workshops.
JP is director and incorporator of Lifespace, Inc., operator of Urban Ashram Yoga. She is a Certified Yoga Teacher with a Yoga Alliance E-RYT 500 designation, and has been teaching yoga since 2011.
JP finished her 200-hour teacher training with YogaWorks, and was trained under Joan Hyman. Since then, she’s taken multiple training hours with leaders in the industry, such as Clayton Horton, Annie Carpenter, James Brown, Leslie Kazadi, and Dr. Ray Long. She also took a 100-Hour Birthlight Perinatal Training with Dr. Francoise Freedman, and Kids Yoga Teacher Training with Lei Sadakari.
She has led numerous explorations, workshops, and classes in Urban Ashram Yoga for both beginner and intermediate practitioners alike.
