Urban Ashram Yoga is well-positioned to be a center for optimal health and well-being, especially for those who need it most. In this case, the one who cares for all—mothers.
The Mother Care program is under the Women’s Care program of Urban Ashram Yoga but is specifically designed for power moms, working moms, full-time moms and expecting mothers.
Urban Ashram Yoga’s Mother Care program aims to “Mother-the-Mom”, both by educating her with up-to-date and time-tested knowledge and equipping her with tools by learning skills and practical tips that can be applied to the relevant stage of her motherhood. We believe that knowledge with skills in action can also be more effective and reinforced by building a community of mothers, which is also the aim of this program.

Life changes for a woman from the time she conceives – at that moment she becomes a mother. It is a beautiful change that comes with a lot of responsibilities. It is a reality for a mother to deal with so many things: husband, partner, children, work, business, etc. With so many things to worry about, it is no joke that mothers normally feel fatigued or tired.
With this workshop, we would like to celebrate mothers by showing simple tools that you can use to have handy as a “remedy” to effectively de-stress so as not to create “dis-ease” in the body and mind. Taking a proactive role in making yourself healthy, happy and efficient in all the efforts you do as a mother.
In this 2 hour workshop, there will be talk about the realities of motherhood, learning self-care tools, breathing techniques and a Stress-Free Gentle Flow class culminating in journal writing to help equip the mother on how to deal with the everyday load of responsibilities yet still be fit & balanced.

Urban Ashram Yoga is backed by a strong foundation in Mother Care, having partnered and hosted internationally-recognized and the pioneer in prenatal and postnatal yoga care through Birthlight. It believes in Birthlight’s holistic approach in addressing the needs of each woman and baby in supportive small classes that extend to partners and family circles. The trainers and teachers in this program have all been trained under the Birthlight methodology and have had a combined experienced of over 20 years of teaching mothers, on top of most of them being hands-on mothers themselves.
Birthlight offers the most comprehensive and original programme of yoga from pre-conception to the postnatal year. Yoga is increasingly recommended to pregnant women because it is a gentle way of maintaining or gaining fitness while reducing anxiety with breathing and relaxation techniques. Birthlight has been at the forefront of selecting and adapting yoga practices that are safest and most suitable for pregnant women. Hip rotations and flowing sequences of moves have been developed to avoid strain in held postures. Yoga breathing techniques have been selected and adapted to expand women’s breathing capacity in gentle and effective ways that carry through to labour and the postnatal period to promote physical and emotional wellbeing. Rather than pelvic muscle tone, Birthlight promotes elasticity and stability that are the best foundation for birth and postnatal recovery even when medical intervention is called for.
